What is a Residential Building Survey?

In general a survey on a residential property takes 3 forms.
Level 1.
The most basic is a Home Buyers Report (Level 1) and is a visual inspection by a qualified surveyor, this report will give a condition rating (1,2 or 3) to elements of your property. Generally this report is the cheapest but considered the most basic of information.
Level 2.
This report is generally called a Home Condition Survey (Level 2) and follows on from the L1 report outlined above with giving a 1,2 or 3 rating, The report has added comments from the surveyors experience on what may have caused any issues in the property.
Level 3.
A level 3 report is considered the best but most expensive option to a home buyer. The report covers all aspects of the building and boundaries, the report comes with recommendations on how to solve any issues/defects at the address with possible costs involved.

All reports provide information on the property you may be purchasing, how much information will depend on which report you choose. The surveyor will be able to guide you on the type of report that may suit your property best once further information has been gathered.
